Rodger Squirrell uses familiar materials, industrial remnants of steel, stainless, copper and even paper, with subtle humor to surprise and engage the viewer.  Recently he has begun using paper and steel in collage and to produce series of pieces in which steel is stretched or suspended within frames.

Rodger Squirrell's direct metal sculptures feature diverse industrial remnants reinvented as bold, skeletal forms in the tradition of early twentieth century sculptors.  His steel, copper, and bronze works introduce the viewer to familiar materials that defy expectation and use humor and surprise to engage the viewer.  Some of his most unique pieces involve the use of chrome automobile bumpers, cotter pins, and cable wire.
